3.5 great | Matty CONTRIBUTOR | March 1st 24 | Prefer this to their debut. Much less serious, more "dance" oriented and the songs are just better.

2.0 poor | doofy | March 1st 24 | Album two and everything about this 'act' still feels contrived - 'trendy album by
committee' is all that's communicated by this busy but ultimately hollow random salad of
sounds. The musical backing seems to have little to no natural connection with the vocal
delivery or the lyrical content. 'Down By the Stream' even manages to sound like Soul
Coughing minus a musical soul...Soul Nothing. The vocalist lacks both charisma and wit -
more Mark E. Smurf than Smith.

3.5 great | ajcollins15 | March 6th 24 | The sophomore album from UK-based band Yard Act continues their exploration of various shades of post-punk and alternative dance styles. "Where's My Utopia" takes a different approach from the expansion seen in other UK post-punk bands leading the charge in the crank wave genre. Yard Act opts for a more classic approach, drawing inspiration from Talking Heads with their dance-punk and art punk instrumentals. Each track exudes bounce and charm. However, the album could benefit from honing in more on a singular sound, particularly when the lead singer veers into spoken word or rap territory, as heard on the track "Blackpool Illuminations". Nonetheless, I'm eager to see what this band continues to accomplish in the future.

3.2 good | Erwann S. STAFF | March 4th 24 | Yard Act kinda go for a more dance-punk approach on their sophomore record, and it's a good idea! Now they just gotta stick with that idea and get rid of the more complex tunes, they can't seem to know what to do with those.
