Killa Kali is one the best mid 90's Bay area albums, and although Celly Cel still lives in the same bleak mindstate that he had on his debut, but everything is way better fleshed out, and hints of artistry come through. On "Tha Bullet" he raps from the perspective of a bullet, which Nas was applauded for a few months later. Celly's take on it is not as thoughtful, but it's still really brutal and unique. And not every single song is about killing ppl. "It's Goin' Down" & "Can't Tell me Shit" offer chill and nostalgic vibes. The beats are full of heavy bass and live guitar, and it's a great starting place for those wanting to get into the "Mob" style music of NorCal's mid 90's. Celly Cel is still a ruthless dude most of the time, but on Killa Kali, at least he's a person instead of a bland killing machine.
