Illa J is an absolutely chill singer, giving the listener a shakey, soulful withering effect that fits J Dilla subdued production style. Illa J's rapping however, suffers from ADHD, and he switches from topic to topic like every couple of lines, and going into stuff that should not be gotten into. The digressing can be incredibly interesting, but most of the time it's just boring, and not showing Illa's skill as a rapper. J Dilla's beats are ILL though.
