Imagine your favourite indie band, add in the sound effects of Muse, the vocal styles of Coldplay and the lyrics of Bob Dylan and you’re left with Sandweaver. A band who have put together the different styles so cleverly they’ve created a sound of their own. The south coast town of Worthing is often in the shadow of it’s cooler neighbour Brighton, but the potential of this up and coming band could be the ones to put it on the map.
Debut album ‘Invasion’ consists of eleven songs that have won over scores of fans all over the south coast, starting off with the ‘Shot Down’. The combination of radio friendly hooks and vocals follows into ‘Never Go Back’, a song so ridiculously catchy it could make your teeth shatter and will be locked in your brain for hours afterwards. The rest of the album takes the listener on a ride through futuristic sound effects, heartfelt lyrics and perfectly placed harmonies.
Despite the radio-friendly melodies, the lyrics lead us to a darker dimension, with tales of heartbreak, rejection and pains that everyone can relate to. Bringing the album to a gentle close is ‘This Town Won’t Eat Me’, a stylish power ballad with a simple, yet anthemic chorus that would get the most pokerfaced of crowds joining in.
With a second album in the pipeline already, with a debut album as strong as ‘Invasion’ the future is certainly looking bright for this big talent from a small town.
