70s folk with a psychedelic twist(psychological more so) and production that feels very modern. The songs shimmer and have some slightly disturbing/creepy turns. Pratt's tenor easily carries the album with some twists that are reminiscent of more recent artists (Mike Patton comes to mind a long with others)rThe single "Avenging Annie" opens the album and is a catchy tune with some darker lyrical content that subvert the galloping beat and twinkling piano. That sense of darkness winds it's way throughout the album culminating in Deer Song. A cold, wintery song that is the antithesis of the opener and would be at home on an Agalloch or Falls of Rauros album. rWorth the listen if nothing else than to hear a gem that has fallen into the shadows of bigger releases from the time.
