Review Summary: Good Flows encased in lackluster beats, What was the point?

Over the years Johnny Richter has def stood out as the best king. With the emergence of Dirtball on kmk, and that d-loc now sounds like he is always sloppy drunk, maybe Richter felt like he wasn't getting enough face time. So when I heard about his solo album I was intrigued but also skeptical on what he would bring to the table.

Unfortunately what he brought was a toned down, less edgy Kingspade album. Don't get me wrong, I still think he flows nicely in every song, and is still a top notch rapper and could compete against any mainstream artist right now. However the beats are repetitive and dull for the most part. I'm assuming that Bobby B did the beats, and if that's the case, then what was the point of all this. Now if JR did them himself, then I commend him for doing an entire album basically himself, but I don't think that's the case.

There are no standout banging tracks, and there are no terrible tracks, and the album does flow nicely and seems like descent background music, but I would prob choose other albums first. The standout tracks for me are Remember that Summer, and Nice Cold One. Mainly because they sound like perfect montage songs for a backyard bbq and bonfire. "Celebration" is actually a pretty tight as well.

For the amount of good tracks though, he should have just put them on a "Hidden Stash" cd, and I know two of them already have last year (Hello World, formerly titled Lookin out the Window, Evolution) Johnny Richter is still awesome, and I'm sure will continue to drop new bangin joints in the future, with the kings, this album just didn't do that much for me. I'm really wondering what D-Loc's solo will sound like in a few weeks, should be interesting.
