Review Summary: A nice mixture of genres and atmospheres. This is a decent album.

I was looking up bands to listen to a few weeks ago, and I came across the cover art for this album. I was so intrigued with it that I just had to listen to the album. Suprisingly the recording for this album is very good considering they are an underground band. They infest the album with lots of lines from movies, which can sometimes get a little annoying, but most of the time they go well with the song.

1. Toward Another Dimension(4/5): Starts the album off with a unique intro, and then goes straight into the song. The beginning starts out like a typical metalcore song would with semi-fast paced guitar riff, blast beats and an almost inaudible bass, but after that the song starts to get a little more interesting. The song has very well overlapped guitar parts, with nice paced blast beats, and fairly decent vocals. This is one of my favorite songs on the album.

2. The Missing Element(3/5): Just a typical metalcore song, nothing too special except for the Black Dahlia Murder inspired blast beats. Typical guitar riffs, a little above average drumming, and yet again almost no bass to be heard. Decent song though.

3. Toadstool(3.5/5): This is where Obsek starts to show off a little of their darker side. Later in the song they have a change in mood when the singing starts up; it gives you that feeling like you just got rescued from the dark mood of the song, then is followed up by a fairly simple, but decently written guitar solo based on the mood of the song. Overall a well written song.

4. Twisted(2.5/5): Breakdown fest and typical metalcore riffs is what this song consists of. Nothing special in this. Just an average song.

5. Then, I Relapse(4.5/5): This my favorite song off the album. Starts off with a black metal inspired riff consisting of: tremelo picking and very fast paced blasts beats, and jumps into the vocalist screaming "And then, I relapse!" which leads into a good breakdown. An extremely well written song. I only rate this a 4.5 because one of the breakdowns is dragged out a little long, but it is still amazing. Best song on the album in my opinion; you should definitely check this one out.

6. Till the Last Drop(4/5): A good song to follow up "Then, I Relapse". Starts off with a faded intro into the vocalist screaming to start off a breakdown. My favorite breakdown on the album is 2:27 - 2:50. Amazing song. Another one of my favorites.

7. Thus Falls the Curtain(3.5/5): If it wasn't for the guitars tremolo picking over half the song I would have rated this a 4. Still a very good song if you like well layed out, and unique breakdowns with lots of tremelo picking.

8. Temptacles(1/5): It's just a weird outro. Don't worry about listening to it

9. This One Doesn't Start With a 'T'(Jean Coutu)(3/5): This song made me laugh so hard the first time I heard it. I'm not sure where I've heard the jingle from in the beginning of the song so if you want to look into it you can. It's pretty much just a big breakdown.

Recommended tracks:
- Toward Another Dimension
- Then, I Relapse
- Till the Last Drop

Pros:
- Funny at times
- Very talented musicians
- A nice mixture of atmospheres

Cons:
- Too many breakdowns in some songs
- Overuse of movie lines
- Can be repetitive

inb4 this got bumped off the front page

review needs some work, not trying to be an ass but maybe I can help you out:

first of all, while track-by-tracks are easy for beginners, they aren't recommended and it's advised that you don't write them anymore.
Thing is, with track-by-tracks, you don't necessarily have anything significant to say about every song on the record. Like with this for instance:

4. Twisted(2.5/5): Breakdown fest and typical metalcore riffs is what this song consists of. Nothing special in this. Just an average song.

this doesn't say anything about the sound of the album that hasn't been covered already, not to mention it's vaguely detailed.
your review does have several areas with dull detail, and I think doing a track-by-track is the reason for this.

It's just a weird outro. Don't worry about listening to it

you say things like this frequently. Why should we not worry about listening? What makes it a wierd outro?

your word usage is awkward in places, but this isn't a bad review. not going to pos or neg, I really think you should give this another go with a non-track by track. hope I could lend some helpful constructive criticism, cheers.

also, if Irving sweeps in here, not only will you get a better critique than mine but you'll be told to tear down your pro/con list

@washboardsuds

Alright thank you

I will write another review

I have no problem with people helping me out. After all it is my first review

Anything else that you might recommend?

@thecrossawaits

Then you obviously weren't listening to the first track. The first 30 seconds doesn't show any signs of a TBDM inspiration.

They do show signs of TBDM inspiration though.
