3.0 good | Britch2tiger | September 24th 15 | Tracks 1-4 were amazing, but then mediocrity suddenly tsunami-ed the entire album after that... Tracks 5-12 were just dull in comparison to the first 4 songs. Even so this album definitely revealed a potential in this music and was certainly audible in their sophomore album.

4.0 excellent | Mnstorm99 | January 7th 14 | This is Live, with heart. rMental Jewelry is an album I can listen to twice when I am in the proper mood. Throwing Copper is a great album, but this one just has something more for me.

2.5 average | timbo8 | August 21st 08 | Besides "Pain Lies on the Riverside," which is an absolutely bitchin' song, Mental Jewelry is largely bland and unmemorable. "Pain Lies on the Riverside" is by far the most enthusiastic and exciting track here, reaching epic proportions but remaining serious, urgent, and hard-rocking. "Operation Spirit (The Tyranny of Tradition)" and "Brothers Unaware" are decent tracks, but the rest of the album, while perhaps piquing interest at times, never yields lasting moments or enduring, enjoyable tunes. Regardless, considering this album directly precedes the band at their commercial (and perhaps critical) peak with Throwing Copper, loyal Live fans will more thoroughly enjoy Mental Jewelry.
