4.5 superb | Samano89 | November 18th 20 | I absolutely love this album and am so happy to have discovered it, thank you Dark Descent Records. If they hadn?t just done a vinyl reissue of this classic then I never would have heard of this. This is one of those albums where the cover artwork and colors perfectly suit the mental imagery the sounds of this album convey. It has a cold, bleak, intergalactic alien like atmosphere that hits you right between the eyes just like the cover art represents. This has to be one of my absolute favorite guitar tones I?ve ever heard on tape! It has a spacey airy extra terrestrial tone with a perfect blending of effects (it?s hard for me to discern what effects exactly but could be reverb, delay, chorus, flange or some combination of any of these) and still remains heavy and brutal for a strong rhythmic foundation. I?d love to hear from the band about what guitar gear was used to create/record this album because it is fantastic in my opinion. The producer did a great job too as everything is clear and well balanced even though it?s a very heavy sound which is remarkable to me how many good sounding death metal albums there were in the early 90s considering it was a new genre and most producers had little to no experience recording music that heavy.
