4.5 superb | luvdrama | April 4th 12 | Ted Templeman returns to produce his first Doobie Brothers Album in nearly 30 years. The primary song writing team of Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons (no other song writers here) combined with Templeman's skill as a producer result in the finest Doobie Brothers album since 1975's Stampede. For those who haven't followed the Doobie Brothers since the 1982 breakup, this isn't the soft pop band, saturated on adult contemporary radio, led by Michael McDonald (although he guests co-vocals on one song with Pat Simmons). Rather, this is a return to form of early Doobie Brothers vintage rock and roll with Johnston and Simmons leading the way. World Gone Crazy is a must have for any fan of the Tom Johnston Doobie Brothers era (1970 to 1975).
