Brassy

Brassy was an alternative rock band from England that formed in 1994. It was formed by American-born vocalist Muffin Spencer, who moved to England a year before Brassy's formation. Initially a rather straightforward alternative rock band, Brassy ended up adopting numerous hip hop elements by 1999, and the group practically became an alternative hip hop band by 2000. Brassy released two albums and eight singles, although all of their releases were commercial flops, with their highest charting releases being tied at number 88 on the UK Charts (the "Good Times" single and the 2003 rerelease of the "Play Some D" single). The sales for their 2003 album "Gettin Wise" were so poor, that the band members ended up going in debt to their label, thus putting an abrupt end to Brassy.
