A Split Second were a Belgian electronic and industrial band, formed by singer Marc Ickx and producer Peter Bonne (under the artist name Chrismar Chayell) in 1986. Their early sound was a unique take on new wave and electronic body music influences, with a distinct rock flavour thanks to the ever lingering presence of an electric guitar that was later expanded on later albums such as Kiss of Fury and Megabite into industrial rock/metal territories. The group found limited success outside of their home country of Belgium, and are largely credited with being responsible for kickstarting the subgenre of electronic music known as New Beat.
