Andre Acker, better known as Awesome Dre, is a rapper from Detroit, Michigan. His group Awesome Dre and the Hardcore
Committee were the first rap group to be signed to a major label, and were active from 1988 until 1994. After the group split,
Dre largely retired from the rap scene, before making his comeback in 2008 as a producer and occasional rapper. In 2016,
Awesome Dre released “A.D.E.P.”, which was not only his first original album release since The Hardcore Committee split, but it
was also his first-ever solo album as well.
