Birdsongs of the Mesozoic was an avant-prog group formed by Mission Of Burma members Roger Miller and Martin Swope. Initially conceptualized as a side project, Mission Of Burma's break-up in 1983 led the duo to make Birdsongs of the Mesozoic their full-time project and took on new members. Both founding members ended up leaving Birdsongs of the Mesozoic by the late 80s, which eventually became comprised of Erik Lindgren, Ken Field, Rick Scott and Michael Bierylo.
