Blue Bob is a musical collaboration between filmmaker David Lynch and sound engineer/guitarist John Neff. Though known for his quirky filmmaking, Lynch has always had a hands-on approach to the sound design and music in his movies, and his talent as a musician has come to full fruition on musical works such as Juilee Cruise's Floating into the Night, which he helped write and produce, and the stage production Industiral Symphony No. 1. Blue Bob is a musical collaboration between filmmaker David Lynch and sound engineer/guitarist John Neff. Though known for his quirky filmmaking, Lynch has always had a hands-on approach to the sound design and music in his movies, and his talent as a musician has come to full fruition on musical works such as Juilee Cruise's Floating into the Night, which he helped write and produce, and the stage production Industiral Symphony No. 1. Though still retaining the ethereal, dreamy qualities of his work on the aforementioned music, Blue Bob takes a decidedly more rock approach, mixing distinctive, dissonant guitar rock with quirky flourishes of 50s pop, industrial noise, and Lynchian strangeness.
The duo's first material was presented in Lynch's 2001 film Mulholland Drive, though the Blue Bob moniker had not yet been conceived. They released their first album in 2003. « hide |
