These Heralds of Affliction rise from their respective black pedigrees of such various projects as Aylwin, At Dusk, Dry Insides, Stavves, and Anhelar to ever-darker depths of depraved death-worshipping metal: Civerous, a revolting onslaught of challenging, warlike derangement; Stygian Obsession, twisted, nauseating delirium.
This release deals a barrage of over 40 minutes of punishing death metal riffs that carry with them disturbing atmospheres of equal intensity. From the nascent sepulchral blasting onslaught of Civerous’ “Forms of Decrepit Brilliance” to the funereal gloom of Stygian Obsession’s “Slouching Towards Cognizance” that closes the album, a mood of earnest antipathy and bleak abhorrence remain pronouncedly constant. « hide |
