Contrive was formed by twin brothers Paul and Andrew Haug in early 99, and later joined by bassist Tim Stahlmann. Soon after, the band began to build its reputation as one of Melbourne’s hardest working and prolific live acts, always looking for an opportunity to play.
This attitude enabled Contrive to share stages with the likes of Sepultura, Soilwork, Mayhem, Skinlab, Destruction, Alchemist, Mindsnare, Cog and other fine Australian and International acts.
Of interesting note, drummer Andrew is host of popular metal program FULL METAL RACKET on Australia's youth radio network Triple J.
