Evil Nine

Evil Nine is a DJ/Producer duo comprised of Tom Beaufoy and Pat Pardy. Their sound can be described mainly as breakbeat but influences ranging from hip-hop to punk can be found in their releases. They began in 1998, and hail from Brighton, UK. Their debut full-length, You Can Be Special Too, was released on Adam Freeland's Marine Parade label, and won 2004's Breakspoll Award for Best Album. The duo released a second full-lenth on Marine Parade in 2008 entitled They Live! which saw the band take on a slower, more decidedly darker sound. They have since started their own label, For Lovers, and have released several singles on that label. Their latest material has seen them shed much of their breakbeat roots in favour of a more pop, house-oriented feel. Sigh.
