At times, there's a chemistry between southern rock and hard rock-flavored post-grunge. Enter Fighting Instinct, a band that made this
chemistry work. Hailing from North Carolina, and sounding like 12 Stones, Pearl Jam, Creed, and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, this now
defunct rock band blended the attitude of the south with the aggression and angst of grunge. The result? A brooding but friendly sound, heavy
enough to receive the attention of a rock listener, but accessible enough to enjoy radio play. Fighting Instinct formed in 2006, consisting of: TJ
Harris (vocals, guitar), Jason Weekly (bass), Derek Drye (lead guitar), and Chris Burrow (drums). The band was somewhat short-lived, as
Fighting only released one LP, and disbanded in late 2006.
