Hailing from Los Angeles, Grant Lee Buffalo were formed out of the ashes of Shiva Burlesque, another L.A rock band that allthree (Grant Lee
Phillips (Guitar & Vocals), Paul Kimble (Bass) and Joey Peters (Drums)), had been members of. Influenced bycountry, classic rock and folk, their
rootsy american style was at odds with the grunge scene they formed during. Their lyricsfocused on social issues and history, as well as narritive
tales in the american folk tradition.
