Greg Carrillo

The first time Greg Carrillo heard Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumkins in 1993, he became obsessed with playing guitar. It was then, that he knew playing music would be a life long endeavor. After running the circuit of the usual high school and college bands, Greg and his friend Chris Rice joined a band called 3AE that ended up getting a deal on RCA in 2002. It was at this same time that he met his current producer Chris Gill (Shinedown, There For Tomorrow) who was the guitarist and writer for 3AE. They enjoyed a brief stint of success until the tragic loss of their singer Chris Rice one month after they signed. After a label deal fell through a couple years later due to a breakup of the band Leave Calmer, along with a relationship breakup in 2007, things changed again the night of Greg’s breakup through the sound of an old song. "I was listening to After The Goldrush by Neil Young. The moment I flipped the record over to the B side and heard the first track, I listened again, then decided to move to Nashville." Moving to Nashville became another turning point for Greg, especially when he was offered the opportunity to audition for Brett Eldredge. Upon getting the gig Greg has played guitar for Brett sharing the bill with acts such as Kieth Urban, Brad Paisley, Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, Jason Aldean, Trace Adkins, Toby Kieth, The Band Perry, and Alabama. Prior to that he opened for The Black Crowes, The Doobie Brothers, Better Than Ezra and Kansas, as well as recording with Shinedown and Brian Howe (Bad Company). Most recently, Greg has decided to turn his attention to a new solo project. Working with friend and producer Chris Gill, Nashville based producer/writer Robin Eaton, Austin based mix/mastering engineer Mike Maurice and, Rob Columbus and Mihn Le from Brick and Mortar Studios out of Los Angeles Greg has produced his first EP called Saudade (released by Tortoise and the Hare Records/SoundFire Entertainment). Greg's lyrics and music tell a rich, vivid story of the Saudade experience, with a collection of songs that will inspire you to try again and again, and that give you a sense of contentedness as you feel the gentle flow of choruses that tug on your heart strings. His music will evoke you to memories of love and friendships lost and almost forgotten, while at the same time reminding you of how life seems to always resolve and heal itself over time. Lose yourself in the Saudade experience beginning July 17, 2012 with the release of the single “Love and Distance”. The entire Saudade EP goes on sale July 31, 2012 at Online Retailers everywhere. « hide
