GrimSkunk was formed in 1988 from a former local post-hardcore band called Fatal Illness4. GrimSkunk played their first gig in April 1989. The first demo album, Autumn Flowers, was released two years later in April 1991. Along with B.A.R.F., Anonymus and Groovy Aardvark, the band was one of the first of the "alternative" genre to tour Quebec.
