Hi-Standard is a Japanese punk rock band who formed in 1991. Initially an underground favorite, the group made their
mainstream crossover in 1997 with the surprise super success of their "Angry Fist" album, which became their first album to
break the Oricon top 10 at number 4. Their following release, 1999's "Making the Road", was an even bigger success, and
sparked sold-out shows all over Japan. Hi-Standard also started to tour overseas in Europe and the US as well during this point,
touring with well known punk acts such as NOFX, No Use for a Name and WIZO. The group initially split in 2001, but reformed in
2011.
