Scottish musician John Martyn (11th September 1948 - 29th January 2009) started his musical career at the tender age of 17, and released albums ever since the the late 60s. His career was a mix of sheer brilliance and alcohol fueled failure.Over his career, he developed his music substantially, both in terms of his ever-evolving voice and his backslap acoustic guitar playing.Although not well-publicised in the international world, always struggling to break into the mainstream pop culture, he was an influential figure in British Folk and rock until his death in early 2009.
