Formerly known as Lil Sci from Scienz of Life, a group who had put out records on Bobbito Garcia's Fondle 'Em imprint and Sub Verse Music in the late 90s and early 2000s. Robinson later went on to release his debut solo album I Am Not For Sale, followed by a collaborative effort called Lil Sci and Carlos Nino present What's The Science? After working with John on previous projects such as King Ghedoraah and multiple Scienz of Life albums, MF Doom suggested they embark on a full-length concept album, to be executive produced by The Villain himself where Lil Sci would take on his government name, John Robinson.
