José Mário Monteiro Guedes Branco was a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer from Porto, Portugal. He is best known for playing música de intervenção, or "intervention music", which was highly critical of the Estado Novo regime in the 1960s and 1970s. His music is a blend of traditional Portuguese folk, contemporary folk, and chanson.
