Killing Heidi are the brainchild of Ella Hooper, and her older brother Jesse. After making immediate success through their 1998 debut album Reflector, Heidi gained less public appraisal for their succeeding albums, mainly because they lacked the so-called punch needed as most second and third album's do these days.

After making immediate success through their 1998 debut album Reflector, Heidi gained less public appraisal for their succeeding albums, mainly because they lacked the so-called punch needed as most second and third album's do these days.
They began as a little garage band in a semi-regional town of Victoria Australia. It seems one of the least likely places to have Australia's fastest selling success emerge, but part of this can be thanked to the local radio broadcaster Triple J, and producer Paul Kosky who eventually tied forces and slingshotted the group to brief commercial success. Like Silverchair, and other post grunge acts during the time, Heidi developed a fan base mainly comprised of young aspiring adolescents, who sought refuge under the lyrical themes of the dying grunge scene. Unlike Silverchair however, who developed their own sound, and went onto evolve and form as most successful bands do, Heidi missed the train, and unfortunately are still waiting for appraisal.
Their second and third recordings were less successful, but still contained music to be enjoyed by those dearest to the band and those curious. Still however, Heidi are still and probably always will be remembered, by the one song “Mascara” that was close to original, but not quite enough to attach from in the future. As of 2006 they have been on hiatus, and there is no current news of them releasing a fourth venture. « hide |
