After spending its youth practicing on a c64, then a commodore Amiga,Ludovic Llorca (thats his real family name) releases his first ep in 1994 on a small north-of-france-based label, and starts dj'ing house and techno in belgium clubs. The self-taught musician, who composes, produces, records and mixes his every track by himself, then moves to Paris, welcomed by Laurent Garnier's F-Communications label, where he releases 3 ep's and his first Lp. While many consider Llorca's "Newcomer" as a reference album, selling more than 170.000 copies and leads him to stages around the world, Ludovic claims being "not a jazzman, neither a soulman, barely a musician : just someone making his own music with a computer - and every kind of music, if possible".
From 2001 to 2003, Llorca keeps on touring with musicians, playing live in famous festivals (Montreux, Nice, Jazz a Vienne, Den Haag Jazz festival, Paleo Festival (Switzerland), Dour (Belgium), Vibes Australia, ), dj'ing in the world's most popular clubs.
He then starts working on different remixes for a lot of various labels and producers - from Alexkid, Landshark, Snax To Hooverphonic, Hardfloor, 2020 Sound System, and starts a couple of different projects under various monikers (Techno with Laurent Garnier under the Marl Chingus a.k.a, Deep-House on F-Communications under the Dissplay disguise, bootlegging and editing under the name of Frantz Kromer).
After the release in 2006 of a mixed compilation, "My playlist" (Wagram records) that would try to cover the wide range of Llorca's musical tastes, Llorca recently focused on remixing, his efforts being rewarded by high-quality compilations licenses (Fabric 33) and critical acclaims : "The recent Art Of Tones release featured an awesome remix from Llorca which probably was our favourite 2020 release of the past year. Llorca is now given the almighty 2020 Soundsystem to remix and he comes up trumps with another sterling remix" (Phonica).Then comes his contribution to Claude Monnet's project 'Back To Fundamentals' : 'Insatiable', that he releases under the name of 'Miamik', stayed 5 weeks Traxsource top-selling charts. The feedbacks speak for themselves : from Ame to Dj Spen, from Mousse T to Martin Solveig, every dj played the track in 2008.
The recent plethora of remixes released on such respected labels as 2020vision, Freerange, Compost Black Records and Brique rouge, would lead us to the conclusion that llorca definitely choosed the path of a more electronic, club-oriented music. But as he's still working on new material for 2020vision (where he now mostly releases his electronic tracks), he confides having his next album almost ready for 2009, the result being a collection of infectious soulful, funk and pop songs. « hide |
