Lucid Skies is a Canadian hardcore/crossover band who incorporate elements from thrash metal, groove metal, and metalcore
into their style. Fusing classic hardcore with infectious melodies, Edmonton’s own Lucid Skies bring aggression and stage

Lucid Skies is a Canadian hardcore/crossover band who incorporate elements from thrash metal, groove metal, and metalcore
into their style. Fusing classic hardcore with infectious melodies, Edmonton’s own Lucid Skies bring aggression and stage
banter that invites the crowd to become a part of the performance. Drawing inspiration from the raw aggression of their fans,
bands like Comeback Kid, and the DIY spirit that lives on in metal & hardcore, Lucid Skies fuse traditional hardcore with epic
breakdowns and focus on melody and aggression to emphasize their passion as musicians. Aggressive vocals combined with
melodic riffs, while sticking to their hardcore influences, instrumentally, Lucid Skies draws from d-beats, breakbeats, and
breakdowns. Their latest album, "Hounds," is peppered with chugging bass lines and complimented by rhythmic guitar
arrangements. In the last few years, a lot of hardcore has lost its sheer gutsiness. Bands come across with a squeaky clean
sound and expect to be accepted like normal kids. In other words, ripping part all of the magic of what hardcore stands for.
Lucid Skies don't peddle in any of that boring old generic crap, instead they choose to pioneer a fresh and innovative sound
that pushes hardcore limits and brings back the down and dirty feel that makes the originators of the genre so glorious.
Bloody and proud of it, their new EP "Hounds" is a promising predecessor to their upcoming record. One of the key things to
note about this record is that it mixes more than a few metal influences into the sound. This creates a sort of 'true'
metalcore, or, true to the original sense of the word at least. Rather than being whiny or boring, Lucid Skies are heavy and
here for your skulls. These guys know what it is to create heavy music, and if you don't like it - too bad. "Hounds" makes a
clear statement; you are unable to dictate how Lucid Skies are going to live their lives and if you try, you will wish you
hadn't. The songs are tough, brutal, and unforgiving, truly reflective of a band who are ready to give their lives for their
music. Shining and destructive, "Hounds" shows a lot of promise. In conclusion, Hounds is a triumphant artistic statement. The
kind of record that reaches out and touches the soul, not with beautiful chords or heart rending lyrics, but a simple
desperation and brutality that speaks louder than anything else. See, it is the attitude behind "Hounds" that matters most,
and this attitude proves the band is ready to take things to a whole new level. Suffice to say, the message from this band is
clear. Their Western Canadian tour is going to be incredible, and they will definitely crush some skulls. If you want metalcore
that adheres to the strictest sense of the term, check out Lucid Skies. « hide |
