Lush was a British pop band that formed in 1988. Throughout most of their career, Lush was a distinctive shoegaze/dream pop band that found moderate popularity in their native country. After recording and releasing several EPs, Lush released a compilation of these songs entitled Gala that was mainly geared toward establishing an American fan base. Lush went on to release two LPs in their signature style: Spooky and Split. Their third full-length, Lovelife, adopted a more accessible, britpop-inspired sound. Lush disbanded in 1996 after their drummer, Chris Acland, hung himself.
