Mase is a well known rapper, raised in Harlem, NYC. Mase had an extremely successful run in the rap scene in the mid 1990's,with his 1997 debut album, "Harlem World", going on to sell over 3 million copies. However, his 1999 follow-up album, "DoubleUp", would fail to be anywhere as successful, probably due to the resurgence of thuggish rap, spearheaded by the likes of TrickDaddy, Master P and Mystikal. In late 1999, Mase retired from the rap scene, and instead became a pastor. However, his 1999 follow-up album, "DoubleUp", would fail to be anywhere as successful, probably due to the resurgence of thuggish rap, spearheaded by the likes of TrickDaddy, Master P and Mystikal. In late 1999, Mase retired from the rap scene, and instead became a pastor. However, in 2003,Mase announced his comeback to the rap scene, releasing his third album in 2004, "Welcome Back", to huge success. The albumreached number 4 on the Billboard charts, and both the album, and the popular self-titled track, eventually became certifiedgold. In 2007, Mase appeared to disappear from the rap scene, but returned in 2009 by appearing on the remixed version of "INeed a Girl" by R&B singer, Trey Songz. He is currently working on his long-awaited fourth album, "Now We Even". « hide |
