Modulus is an experimental metal solo project by Minneapolis musician Mitch Schooler that began in late 2009. Modulus utilizes an instrumental band setup consisting of mostly guitars, bass and percussion, along with keyboard and a restriction-less approach to incorporating other instruments and sounds. Songwriting is carried out in a write-as-you-go fashion using Guitar Pro software. Songs typically do not follow a conventional structure and build as they progress, often flowing directly into one another yielding long, continuous compilations to be listened to in their entirety. Ideas and parts are often included that result from collaborations with close friends.
