When Pavement broke up in 1999, guitarist Scott "Spiral Stairs" Kannberg started the Preston
School of Industry project under Matador Records. The band released their first LP, All This Sounds
Gas and after one other studio album, they fell inactive until Pavement reunited in 2009 to release a
"best of" collection.
