Scheer was an alternative metal band from Ireland that first formed in 1992. Signed to 4AD, a label known for being the home of more mellow alternative rock bands like Cocteau Twins, Pixies, Lush and Belly, Scheer stood out like a sore thumb on the label for their melancholic grunge-influenced sound. In 1996, the group released its first full length album “Infliction”, which was a moderate hit in the UK and had positive reviews. Nonetheless, conflict between Scheer and 4AD, as well as internal issues within the band itself, led to their disbandment in the fall of 1998. Their second full length album, eventually titled “…And Finally”, which was worked on by the band before their abrupt breakup, was finally released in 2000, two years later.
