Sore Eyes

Memphis rock band Sore Eyes formed up in 2006, with the basis of vocalist Shi Eubank and guitarist Jeremiah Lipscomb. Memphis rock band Sore Eyes formed up in 2006, with the basis of vocalist Shi Eubank and guitarist Jeremiah Lipscomb. After grabbing bass player Corey Huerta, second guitarist Eric Johnson, and drummer Josh Sparks, they set to work with Egypt Central producer Blake Allison in 2007. Soon after, both Corey and Josh left the group, upset with the musical direction. They were replaced by bass player Joey Harrison and drummer Matt McClain. They thought the lineup was finalized, but after another desired change in direction, drummer Matt left, replaced by Chris Whitham. Due to the various lineup changes, recording with Blake was never finished. Soon after, the band made plans to record in Orlando, and experienced the loss of both Eric and Joey. They then brought in bass player Landon Fox, leaving the final lineup of Shi Eubank (vocals), Jeremiah Lipscomb (guitar), Landon Fox (bass), and Chris Whitham (drums). They then traveled to Orlando, and record their self- titled EP with producer Brett Hestla, former bassist for Creed. This occured in 2009, and one year later, they recorded their second EP, called A LIFE AWAY, this time recorded with producer Andrew Wade, whom also produced for bands like A Day To Remember and The Word Alive. They've also toured with bands like Saving Abel, Shinedown, and Chevelle. They've worked with Shinedown on numerous occasions, and are influenced heavily by the band. Lyrically, the band addresses things like lost love and inner demons. Sonically, the band is a pop rock/hard rock format, being hard enough to be a rock band, but having enough pop sensibilities to be highly accessible. A note: Sore Eyes has now renamed themselves Empire City, and is currently working on a full-length CD. They've done pop rock covers of some popular songs, and can be found on Youtube. City's current lineup is: Shi Eubank- Vocals Jeremiah Lipscomb- Guitar Landon Fox- Bass James Thomas- Drums Empire City covers: https://www.facebook.com/EmpireCityOfficial/app_2405167945?ref=page_internal « hide
