Formed in 1976 by Dennis Dragon (brother of Captain & Tennille's Darryl Dragon) and Drew Steele with several
other members until their disbanding around 1989.
The group released their eponymous debut in 1979 on their own Day-glo records which was re-issued the following
year on Columbia, and followed in 1982 by Locals Only. These 2 albums were staples in southern California punk
rock and integral to the surf revival movement of the time. The band was known for its theatrical live performances
and the lyrical content of their songs centered around the territorial turf wars of the surf culture. A very underrated,
under-credited band the Surf Punks remain one of the most legendary punk rock bands in history.
