The Cover Girls are a female pop group from New York City that first formed in 1985. The group were a part of the freestyle pop
subgenre, whichgarnered heavy mainstream attention throughout the mid and late 80’s. Once freestyle music started to
disappear from the mainstream, so did thesuccess of The Cover Girls, and after numerous lineup changes, the group was
disbanded in 1996. In 2001, the classic lineup of The Cover Girls (AngelMercado, Caroline Jackson, Sunshine Wright and Margo
Urban) reunited, and The Cover Girls remain semi-active today as a sporadic touring act.
