The Lovin' Spoonful

Formed in the early 60's, The Lovin' Spoonful released their first single "Do You Believe In Magic" in 1965. It managed to reach number 9 on the Hot 100. Since then the band has managed to put out many folk-pop hits such as "Daydream", "Summer In The City" and "You Didn't Have To Be So Nice". Their music is considered to be of a pop/rock style but you can still hear the folky roots in the songs. The original line-up consisted of singer John Sebastian, guitarist Zal Yanovsky, drummer-vocalist Joe Butler and bassist Steve Boone. Sebastian left the group in 1968 to pursue a solo career.
