THE LYTICS are a five piece hip-hop outfit from Winnipeg, Canada and comprised of 3 emcees (Andrew "A-nice" Sannie, Mungala "Munga" Londe, Anthony "Ashy" Sannie), 1 DJ Gavin ("DJ Action Rick" Kalansky), and a producer (Alex "B-Flat" Sannie). The Group has been receiving some decent exposure as of late after having played both the 2009 Manifesto and NXNE festivals in Toronto. They've had multiple write ups in "Canada's Music Authority"

THE LYTICS were formed in 2003. It was at this time A-nice, Munga, and Ashy began experimenting with music at home, making several modest recordings over well known hip hop instrumentals on the family computer. The 3 emcees A-nice, Munga, and Ashy actually grew in the same house. A-Nice and Ashy being brothers while Munga, who is their cousin, would later move in and live with the family. After several months the 3 built a decent sized catalogue of "basement recordings" and began sharing their music locally with close friends. It was at this time that A-nice, Munga, and Ashy would give their musical partnership the name "The Analytics" (later shortened to "The Lytics"). The group would continue this way for several years until November of 2008, when they decided that it was time to begin officially operating as a music group.
Shortly after they would record their first E.P using original beats from producer B-flat (the 3rd and eldest of the Sannie brothers). B-flat started making beats in the winter of 1996 and had already been working with some other artists both locally and elsewhere. The group soon began playing shows at local venues throughout their city and would eventually be joined by A-nice's high school friend and up and coming Dj, "DJ Action Rick". « hide |
