Water Melon was an underground avant-garde band, formed by the members of Melon. Originally alluded to on the title of
Melon's 1984 album "Cool Music", Water Melon became an official act in 1997 when Melon disbanded for the second and final
time. In comparison to Melon's slightly diverse sound, Water Melon takes their musical experimentation to a whole new level of
strangeness, often blending elements of noisy electronica and downtempo chords. In 2001, Water Melon disappeared, but
reappeared in 2005, releasing a live album, "Water Melon in Person", in August 2006. In 2008, however, Water Melon once again
vanished from the underground Japanese music scene, and are presumed to be split for good.
