Witold Lutoslawski

(January 25, 1913 – February 7, 1994) One of the preeminent Polish modernists, along with Krzysztof Penderecki, in the post-war avant garde. His music combined aleatoric processes, folk influences and his own style of twelve tone composition. He was also awarded Poland's highest honour, the Order of the White Eagle.
