How many death metal bands hail from Africa? Only a handful, probably, and Wrust is one of them. Formed in 2000 from a previous, short-lived project called Okumbwe, Wrust come from Gaborone, Botswana and have been one of the most prominent members of the modern African heavy metal scene. They have opened for acts such as Sepultura, Carcass, Bolt Thower, and Entombed. Since their debut, they have relocated from Botswana to Durban, South Africa, and they have also moved away from death metal to a more groove metal style that includes clean vocals instead of death growls.
