The band's early music is a wandering, free-form style of punk rock based around loose jamming through long, meandering songs and shouted
vocals. In 1996, the band's fourth release Kocorono largely redefined the butchers' sound into more conventional alternative rock
incorporating introspective stylings with wandering guitars and melodic bass.
2003's Kouya ni Okeru bloodthirsty butchers evidenced further evolution in the band's sound based shorter, more accessible songs and
brighter moods in addition to their trademark style. With the addition of Hisako Tabuchi, the band further evolved towards tighter song
structures on Banging The Drum and Guitarist wo Korosanaide.
One of Japan's most acclaimed alternative bands, bloodthirsty butchers have had strong connections with other influential Japanese artists
such as Number Girl, Eastern Youth, and fOUL, and have even attracted the attention of western artists such as Rocket From The Crypt and
Ian McKaye of Fugazi. « hide |
