06.13.12 | Because my life is important, and you should care about it /sarcasm.
Comic is worth checking out, I enjoy people's opinion on which they consider more imminent. |
Eclecticist
06.13.12 | You need to learn to stop giving a fuck, unless it has real world implications that could result in the harm of someone or something.
But cognition ≠ related behaviour (except in 10% of cases), so all should be good. |

06.13.12 | I know what you mean. My best friend becomes a stereotypical representation of whatever hobbie he takes up. He last ex girlfriend turned him into a tank shirt wearing longboard rider. Me and him recently took up surfing and now he spends his time looking up surfing tournament videos and says "gnarly" all the time. Now he's in an "indie rock" band and say's everything's too mainstream while worshipping the kooks.
Oh well we still get along somewhat. He usually gets over it after some time but it's still pretty annoying sometimes. |
Trebor.
06.13.12 | Most of my friends are atheist or at least really apathetic which is cool |
Adabelle
06.13.12 | That comic is brilliant |

06.13.12 | most of my friends are metalheads |
Trebor.
06.13.12 | And lol what about that comic isn't true? |
Acanthus
06.13.12 | @Eclecticist - Not saying many fucks were given, but I do know he's smarter than this; just waiting for the realization.
@Trebor - most of the people I know/hang out with are the same way

06.13.12 | I love the comic, makes some really good points about how easy it is to distract people, let alone other current events. |
ZilbelStillPings
06.13.12 | One glance at damn facebook trends confirms that. |
StrangerofSorts
06.13.12 | The irony that he says this over the internet is obviously lost on him... |
Acanthus
06.13.12 | There's a lot of irony in him, but he also has Aspergers so it's hard to tell sometimes.
I'm not meaning that I'm perfect either, definitely got my fair share of faults. |

06.13.12 | So he has aspergers but is obsessed with real world interaction? I'm no psychologist but there must be some kind of inferiority complex going on there. Like small-man syndrome but for socialising. |
Acanthus
06.13.12 | He doesn't have a job atm, lives with parents or at our mutual friends place. Plays a lot of Gears of War (we're long time fans) and is currently watching a TON of anime. Seriously, he just went through all of Naruto. Even Shippuden.
He's got some things going against him for sure. |
WeepingBanana
06.13.12 | i rarely agree with my friends about most things
one half of my friends are super liberal to the point where they take anything that Jon Stewart says as absolute truth. the other half are pretty much the exact opposite to the point where they can be pretty sexist. basically their whole world revolves around getting laid. and then i have a few friends who don't give a shit about shit and smoke weed all day. i have the most fun with them |
WeepingBanana
06.13.12 | oh and as far as the comic goes, i think the US is living in Huxley's world while making the middle east Orwell's world |
Acanthus
06.13.12 | Hmm a lot of my older friends smoke weed, a lot of the younger ones do various other drugs. Most enjoy electronic music of some sort, and we like to bash the republican candidates more often than not.
I need to read Huxley still sadly.

06.13.12 | WeepingBanana, regarding your posts, it sounds like we are literally the same person wtf |

06.13.12 | word bro i like your username, it just recently read HGTTG |
evilford
06.14.12 | Thx man. I read it in college. Fuckin took a long time read the whole trilogy, which is 5 books. Pretty great stuff tho, Douglas Adams has some interesting thoughts
But yeah some of my friends are far liberal and some r far conservative and then there r a few who just smoke weed and avoid talking abt heavy issues and we pretty much give each other shit all the time. But that's what's great abt friends, u have dIfferent ideas on shit and fuck with each other but at the end of the day it's all cool and ur bros.
Also ur comments abt Orwell and Huxley. Completely agree and I have had that thought so many times before. |
evilford
06.14.12 | But my name is dumb lol wish I would have come up with something less lame |
WeepingBanana
06.14.12 | yeah i've only read the first one but i'll get one the other ones eventually |

lol
Acanthus, I have minimal intellectually stimulating conversation with my 'real' friends. 'Tis what the Internet is for I reckon. |
Cells
06.14.12 | damn that was a good comic |
Acanthus
06.14.12 | @Someguest - However I may feel towards that advice I think it's probably for the best, though I'll slip from time to time.
@Cells - yeah, I really enjoyed it as well |
evilford
06.14.12 | Yeah I wanted that set rly bad but I didn't want to shell out $20 or whatever it was at the time so I just went with the paperback
version |

06.14.12 | @Acanathus: I have an old friend who is the same way... he is very religious and right winged and it causes a lot of problems. |

06.14.12 | he is very religious and right winged and it causes a lot of problems MAN |

06.14.12 | I really am just waiting to see if he stops being religious, he's smart enough to think around it.

06.14.12 | That comic has always kinda haunted me.
So is he one of those people that thinks that everything is just fine? I have a few clueless kids that are on my facebook who always snap at me when I say that politics are generally corrupt and regardless of who you vote for this election, things'll either stay the same or get worse. Then they go," Oh well you can't complain if you don't vote. Write letters to Congress, do something to change it before you complain." Lol, yeah right, like politicians read ALL the letters they get, if they read any at all. Things are different than they want to see them, I guess. But, I know your pain. I've quit facebook for awhile due to it.
Them ultra-religious folk seem to actually know the least about what they believe lol... Sorry for your plight. |
someguest
06.14.12 | write a letter to that big haired bitch or that slick backed bastard, I'm sure they care deeply about your opinion North. |

06.14.12 | No he knows/recognizes that things aren't peachy keen here, he's for less government involvement (though how that works with his anti-abortion view is beyond me) and wants most drugs to be legalized, etc. Big fan of Ron Paul ironically, really doesn't like "the left" though he can agree with many of their points.
I think it may be just a thing against the internet and news found therein entirely personally.
It's not a terrible plight by any means, just was worse today than normal. I only saw the comic the other day, really creepy. |
North0House2
06.14.12 | Oh I'm sure they do. If I could have my way, life would be nomadic again. Lol, but that won't happen until the nukes fly and everyone dies. |

Oh okay, good, so at least he's not one of those people who thinks everything is just fine. Lol, so it sounds like he leans toward the left that he claims to not want to head towards. Kinda ironic. I'm personally for less government involvement... But at the same time, I know that's not quite possible with the huge population we deal with.
I see.
Okay good. Hopefully it sorts out at some point, regardless. yeah, it's sketchy how right Huxley was. Orwell was pretty darn spot on with some of his concepts as well, though. |
Acanthus
06.14.12 | Yeah, Huxley paves the way for Orwell who in turn keeps the thinkers busy (in jail, dead) while the common people continue on blissfully unaware... Viscous cycle that. |
