| Albums I Wouldn't Mind Having
Well, I'm almost *certain* this list is self-explanatory. Feedback, as always, is most welcome. | 1 | | Opeth The Roundhouse Tapes
Though I've never really been a fan of live albums, per se, this one sounds intriguing (and not just because Opeth is a fetish of mind and I would fistfight a bear in front of its mama for the chance to hear "Demon of the Fall" live). Improvisation seems to make up the bulk of these discs, which is truly admirable in a band. | 2 | | Erase the Grey 27 Days
From what I've read, this short-lived band's first and last EP is a bittersweet testament to their high-quality songwriting and musicianship as a whole. | 3 | | Haste the Day Pressure the Hinges
Being a big fan of "Burning Bridges" and "When Everything Falls," coupled with hearing that this release takes the band in a more progressive direction, makes "Pressure the Hinges" worth looking into in my book. | 4 | | Bear McCreary Battlestar Galactica - Season One
As if being an avid watcher of the show itself doesn't impress the ladies enough, I'm also a really big fan of the music of Battlestar Galactica. Incidentally, I have yet to buy the soundtrack for Season One, despite my relentless, borderline-unhealthy infatuation with those of Seasons Two and Three (especially "Something Dark Is Coming" and "Prelude to War" from the former; sheer bliss, I tell you). | 5 | | The Mars Volta The Bedlam in Goliath
I'm well aware that the popular thing to do nowadays is hate these guys, especially after their subjectively "lackluster" outing "Amputechture" (which I, for one, really enjoyed), but I still look forward to this disc greatly. | 6 | | Rosetta / Balboa Project Mercury
If their two full-length CDs (or up to four, depending on one's perspective on "The Galilean Satellites," really) are any indication, Rosetta is virtually incapable of releasing a bad album. And though I've heard little of Balboa, any band so close in style and focus to Rosetta warrants my immediate attention. | 7 | | Porcupine Tree Nil Recurring
Gauging it by the reviews thus far, the companion piece to "Fear of a Blank Planet" seems to outmatch its already superb sister album. I, for one, am excited. | 8 | | Novembre Materia
I was torn between whether to put this or "The Blue" on here, but I figured I should start with the earlier of the band's two widely-available (relatively speaking, of course) CDs. | 9 | | Devil Sold His Soul Darkness Prevails EP
Possibly one of the most interesting, complex, and unjustly overlooked bands out there today, Devil Sold His Soul is quickly becoming a new favorite of mine; as with Novembre, I figure it's only appropriate that I check out the earliest semi-readily-available release first. | 10 | | Cynic Focus
A relative oldie, but, from the reviews I've seen, a powerful release with a staying power that gives it all the relevance it needs. Oh, and top notch musicianship to boot. | 11 | | Damien Rice Live From The Union Chapel
Simply put, I adore "O," "B-Sides," and "9," so this is only a natural progression for my ever-increasing fanboyism for Mr. Rice. | |

01.19.08 | There really isn't much improv on the Roundhouse Tapes. The odd intro and outro maybe, but generally they stick to the album versions.
Nil Recurring is utterly brilliant, do not hesitate in getting it. | Zoo
01.19.08 | Classica is Novembre's best. Then comes Materia and The Blue. Novembrine Waltz, Arte Novacento, and Dreams d'Azur would follow thereafter. I'd recommend them in that order. | Dis_Con_Nec_Ted
01.19.08 | definitely make sure to get 7. And 1 too I guess, it's a great live album.
Also agree with what you said on 5. | Crimson
01.19.08 | Nice list, I really want 8 too. | AmericnZero02
01.19.08 | Pressure the Hinges is definitely worth checking out. | MrKite
01.19.08 | I plan on listening to that Mars Volta album. I don't know why but I'm pretty interested. | jrowa001
