| Best Concert Ever
...that I've been to. Two nights of artists on surely one of the best new labels, Kscope. Got 2 signed copies of rThe Raven That Refused to Sing from Stevie Wilson, who sat 3 metres away from me for some of it and then rDanny Cavanagh out of Anathema walked past me, so I'm basically famous. rMy first gig since I was a wee nipper, when I saw Linkin Park. How times have changed. | 8 | | Henry Fool Men Singing
DAY 1: Tim Bowness' jazz fusion supergroup. Instruments were very tight, some pretty groovy
fretless bass goin' on. Couldn't even hear Bowness' guitar, and he was facing away from the crowd
most of thr time, the shy bastard. Strongly recommend this album to any fusion fans. | 7 | | Nosound Afterthoughts
Very impressive set, Giancarlo Erra is a darn good guitarist and his solos rocked the place. Nice spin
on Fading Silently and they played I Miss the Ground and Paralysed (which was stunning) from the
new album. Go geddit | 6 | | Bruce Soord with Jonas Renkse Wisdom of Crowds
FIRST EVER LIVE GIG I'M SO SPECIAL. Stevie Wilson at the mixing desk, Jonas being as stone cold
and fat as ever, Bruce's guitar at its best... and best is one of the best. Seriously this is one of
the best albums of the year. | 5 | | Amplifier The Octopus
Earshatteringly loud. This pussy had a headache after the end they were so friggen loud. Blew the
place away with Mot?rhead and Bruce Soord guested for Matmos even though you couldn't hear
him. They wasted 20 minutes on Extra Vehicular and Paris in the Spring and didn't play Interstellar
or Forever & More which was a massive bummer. Still, they sung the 'happy birthday' song, what
more could you need? | 4 | | Leafblade The Kiss of Spirit and Flesh
DAY 2: Anathema's Danny Cavanagh's side project. Very short set, all acoustic which ruined
Bethlehem which could have been awesome. Get this if you want Anathema with a folk/celtic twist | 3 | | Mothlite Dark Age
Man, this was weird. Strange guitar noises eoth the vocalist shouting and singing "doo rah doo rah"
over and over. Drummer was great though, doin' some African-style beats. | 2 | | North Atlantic Oscillation Fog Electric
Pretty solid set, they played Soft Coda which was a highlight but missed out Cell Count which I was
hoping to hear. These guys are gonna make a masterpiece some day. | 1 | | Anathema We're Here Because We're Here
Ah, Anathema. The crowd went wild and clapped along. I stood still and nodded my head because
I'm too cool for that shit. Danny encouraging us to clap and shouting "let's go!" during songs
annoyed my ass cuz it spoiled the atmosphere but they played all of their best songs, including the
mindblowing The Beginning and The End. Closer was the encore which was a killer and they even
announced a guy was about to propose to his girlfriend... but she was in the toilet. | |
Mad.
07.25.13 | Didn't get any bitches tho | Mad.
07.25.13 | Although there was some chick going crazy whipping her hair all over the place | Mad.
07.25.13 | Nah bro she'd probably take my eye out with that shit | beefshoes
07.25.13 | A girl at a Stephen Wilson show??
Man, I would have gave her a proper shagging. | JohnnyoftheWell
07.25.13 | Man, that sounds awesome; I wish I could have gone to that (I very nearly did, and now I'm totally jealous :P) | Mad.
07.25.13 | @beef there were plentya chickas actually but my dad is a pretty major cockblocker | Mad.
07.26.13 | @johnny aha I bet you would've enjoyed it, but sadly they didn't play Internal Landscapes ;) | JohnnyoftheWell
07.26.13 | Ah, that's tragic :[
Can you remember the whole setlist? | Mad.
07.26.13 | I think so; it was Thin Air, then Untouchable 1 & 2, then Summernight Horizon, then Everything, then Deep, then The Beginning and The End, then A Simple Mistake and the encore was Closer. | ShadowRemains
07.26.13 | "and they even announced a guy was about to propose to his girlfriend... but she was in the toilet."
lol ouch | Mad.
07.26.13 | @Shadow the most badly-timed shit of her entire life | beefshoes
07.26.13 | Damn, it's awkward just thinking about it. | Mad.
07.26.13 | They just said "well, I hope she says yes!" and got on with the encore... Anathema are some darn nice guys (and girl) | JohnnyoftheWell
07.26.13 | They must have felt so awk haha
That setlist sounds great as well | Mongi123
07.26.13 | Holy shit great meme lol | OmairSh
07.27.13 | Fuck you Mad | OmairSh
07.27.13 | I might see anathema in september and then ian anderson in oct, fingers crossed. Looking forward to a good anathema setlist "The Beginning and The End" would make my day. | Mad.
07.27.13 | They didn't play Fragile Dreams which was surprising but I didn't mind cuz I don't like it as much as most people. What would
be awesome would be if they played the first 4 songs of Judgement back to back | aggelosm
07.27.13 | But she was in the toilet... lol
| Mad.
07.27.13 | There was quite a 'lol' in the crowd, and there was some guy behind me shouting "don't fuckin say yes, marriage is shit" or something like that | chemicalmarriage
07.27.13 | damn sounds awesome. Paralysed is a phenomenal song | Mad.
07.28.13 | It was an awesome way to finish their set, his wails worked surprisingly well live | ZippaThaRippa
07.28.13 | The fact that you saw Wisdom of Crowds live... man. That must have been sick. | Mad.
07.28.13 | They were awesome, especially Soord's guitar (Frozen North...) but the keyboards were too low in the mix :/ |
