11.01.13 | it's "Morning Follows Me Here" by Gaby and the Thurstones
also idk what's up with its album artwork on here. i'm pretty sure i followed all of the guidelines correctly and i've submitted artwork before but it won't show up for some reason |
YouthCat
11.01.13 | The first song was really good. I'll come back and check the rest out later. |
CK
11.01.13 | So this is pretty fucking good |
CK
11.01.13 | I will say though the vocals are barely audible. |
Blind
11.01.13 | we've had that criticism already and i agree haha. we'll have to be more careful of that in future mixes. thanks for the comments! |
KerfuffleinaHussle
11.01.13 | im no folk expert but the first song is awesome. if the rest matches up this could be pretty fantastic indeed |
Blind
11.02.13 | awesome! i'm glad you think so. let me know how you feel about the rest if you decide to listen! |
Glokta
11.02.13 | not listened to much folk music b4, but this is very good. The singer has a sound akin to Dsutin Kensure of Thrice, which is a gud thing. Keep it up m8. (Only listened to the 1st track, but am going to listen to the rest right now).
After listening to that 1st track, have you considered adding some more rambuncious moments to your music e.g. heavy drums, bass, guitars. Just to mix it up. I don't know if this is the case on other tracks yet, but if it isn't you should defo consider it as it would help add variation and true emo0tional meaning to your music (just because it's waining and sombre/acoustic doesn't mean it's important, valid, emotional or meanigful even if it is to you)
Gud luck M8, keep making music. |
demigod!
11.02.13 | is it a free-folk album or a free folk album? |
Blind
11.02.13 | there are definitely some more rambunctious moments! the middle of "sleepwalkers" and the end of "harold" are much louder. and i meant free folk album but there are definitely times when we stray from the folk aesthetic. i used "folk" kind of loosely cuz i wanted a descriptor for the list title

11.02.13 | Digging it. I too have a singer songwriter/folk kinda sorta album that's free if your up for checking it out.

some of it is more indie rock but you might like it. |
OysterizerInsomniac
11.02.13 | I get what people are saying about the vocals being low in the mix, but it doesn't ruin it or anything as they're only slightly too quiet. This is some pretty cool stuff. |
XingKing
11.02.13 | Agreed with Oyrsterizer. I do feel that the xylophone is mixed a little obnoxious, but this is some good stuff. Why didn't this get featured? |
Blind
11.02.13 | sounds pretty good, josh! i nabbed it / thanks for the nice words, oyster!
yeah i definitely understand the glock criticisms. we're still pretty new to mixing and it's home recorded so any feedback on the production is very welcomed. and do you mean like the staff-picks thing for a feature? how does that work? |
joshuahuntkc
11.02.13 | thanks dude, keep up the good work! |
ethos
11.02.13 | one song in and digging this a lot
feature feature feature feature feature feature |
Blind
11.02.13 | good to hear! would somebody mind explaining the feature mechanic to me? |
XingKing
11.02.13 | It's when a staff member features a list so that yours is one of the ones pinned to the top three spots on the front page for a few days or when you click more lists, it will stay for a few weeks.
The excitement I felt when I got my album featured :3 |
Blind
11.02.13 | oo that sounds nice. was that album the one on the Warren of Ohms bandcamp page? |
XingKing
11.02.13 | That's me! I'm not sure who handles pinning that stuff or else I'd ask for you |
Blind
11.02.13 | i dig it! i'm on false implication right now. i don't have that much screamo outside of stuff like orchid and gospel and city of caterpillar so i'm not like very well versed in the genre at all but it sounds a lot riffier than them. it sounds really good! |
XingKing
11.02.13 | Thanks homie! If you dig screamo at all, I'd suggest checking out Hot Cross because they're one of my biggest influences |
Blind
11.02.13 | yeah for sure. i'll give cryonics a spin in a bit |
XingKing
11.02.13 | A Tale for the Ages is 20/10 |
