Opinions are appreciated. | 7 | | Foals Holy Fire
Not the emotional, pulsing epic that single "Inhaler" promised. However,"Prelude"
"My Number" and "Late Night" are excellent. | 6 | | Bosnian Rainbows Bosnian Rainbows
Great to hear Omar writing licks to fill 3-4 minute (for most part), fury laced
verses from Teri. 'Dig Right in Me', 'Torn Maps' and 'Always on the Run' are great
examples. But the album as a whole is not quite as impactful as I would have hoped. | 5 | | Phoenix Bankrupt!
A good follow up after hit album, Amadeus. Opening track 'Entertainment!' is the
perfect nomenclature for this beat filled ride. Tracks 2-3 and 6-10 are a dance
party's dream. This album moves, possibly even more than Amadeus. But it isn't
all fluff from the boys out of Marseille, as lyrics like 'Bourgeois, why would you
care for more, They give you almost everything, You believed almost anything'
show. | 4 | | Arcade Fire Reflektor
An epic that goes in a somewhat linear direction from 'Suburbs'. Title track might
be best on record, but 'It's never over' and 'We Exist' are great tracks to keep
the lower moments of the album from spoiling the end product. | 3 | | Franz Ferdinand Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action
Every instrument on Right sounds great as FF return to familiar sounds (guitar)
after sonic experimentation of last album. Great interplay between guitars brings
to mind their debut, while melodic hums on 'Stand on Horizon' satisfy something
that needed to be. | 2 | | Eminem The Marshall Mathers LP 2
A rap god returns to form and leaves no stone un-turned. Cleaning his closets of
bad albums and family issues, M sounds dare I say, mature? As complete an
album as M has delivered, and that is saying a lot. | 1 | | Arctic Monkeys AM
Not much needs to be said about AM, as the name signals a rebirth. Matured and
tenured, it takes all previous attempts at an opus and mixes, mashes and gives
birth to a classic. Dark, brooding, and melodic. No coincidence, as hanging out
with Josh Homme has rubbed off. And side by side 'AM' is better than '...Like
Clockwork". | |
