My Favourite Albums Of 2013
I've decided to have another look back on 2013, and try and order my rfavourite albums of last year. I know it's already been done a considerable amount of rtimes late last year, but oh well, here's the list. Bear in mind, I listened to about 70 albums rreleased this year, and enjoyed a lot of them, so it was annoying narrowing them down. |
20 | | Atoms For Peace Amok
I'm a Radiohead fanboy, and how can't you enjoy something with Thom Yorke and Flea in it. I liked it way more than
Radiohead's King Of Limbs. |
19 | | SubRosa More Constant Than The Gods
Another great Sludge album with other elements in it. I'm yet to listen to SubRosa's other works, but More Constant Than he
Gods is an enjoyable album. |
18 | | A Day To Remember Common Courtesy
I never really listened to A Day To Remember, but this album is really really good. I love the mix of Metalcore and Pop Punk, and
I just think the songs themselves are catchy and keep me interested. |
17 | | Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats Mind Control
Another band in which a live experience got me into them. Fantastic band, and Mind Control is a strong album. |
16 | | Anciients Heart Of Oak
Reminds me a lot of Mastodon and Baroness at times, but Anciients to me, have more substance. It's got a massive progressive
influence, whilst still maintaining that Stoner/Sludge sound. Marvelous debut album. |
15 | | Gorguts Colored Sands
At first I really didn't get why everyone loved this, but I revisited it a few months later, and really loved it. First Rate album,
and a great record to come back with. |
14 | | Nails Abandon All Life
This album to me is just pure hate. I'm not big into Grindcore or Powerviolence and such, but a friend of mine showed me Nails,
and I just found this to be one fucking good album. |
13 | | Suffocation Pinnacle Of Bedlam
Many people have said they were dissapointed by this, but I find this to be just as good as their recent works. I don't think I
dislike any Suffocation albums. |
12 | | Sigur Ros Kveikur
Another solid album from Sigur Ros. I saw them live not long after they released this, and I think that cemented my love for
them, and for Kveikur. |
11 | | Shade Empire Omega Arcane
Another album that is the most accomplished of a bands career. Omega Arcane has those wonderful symphonic parts in it, that
make albums like Wintersun's Time I fantastic. Superb album. |
10 | | Thrawsunblat Wanderer On The Continent Of Saplings
Solid debut album from a former Woods Of Ypres member. Nice folk elements, and a very overlooked record. |
9 | | Bring Me The Horizon Sempiternal
At first, I listened to this with bias and prejudice. I was one of those people that automatically hated some bands, for no real
reason, before I really listened to this. I think it's a very decent album, and by far their best. |
8 | | Cult Of Luna Vertikal
Another Isis influenced, Sludgy Post-Metal album, and it's amazing to listen to. From the almost haunting and creepy intro, right
to the finish, this album is excellent. |
7 | | Run The Jewels Run The Jewels
My favourite rap album of 2013. The combination of Killer Mike and El-P makes this album. The production is amazing. |
6 | | The Ocean Pelagial
I can't really fault this album. Post-Metal at its finest. |
5 | | Steven Wilson The Raven That Refused To Sing
Just absolutely mesmerising Prog. |
4 | | Persefone Spiritual Migration
Absolutely wonderful album. Beats all of their other albums. Even Core. |
3 | | Queens Of The Stone Age ...Like Clockwork
This album just grew on me over time, and every listen, it appealed to me more and more. |
2 | | My Bloody Valentine m b v
I can't think of many comeback albums that can stack up to their predecessors, but I think m b v completely holds its own in
comparison to the classic Loveless. |
1 | | Ihsahn Das Seelenbrechen
I don't know what it is about Ishahn, but I just love his solo albums. Das Seelenbrechen is Ihsahn at his best. It's a fantastic
album |
