Lefondre's top 15 releases of 2014
Intended to post this months ago but 'Technical Difficulties' prevented me from doing so (old computer crashed..)
Anyway feedback and/or any rec's would be appreciated |
15 | | Four Year Strong Go Down In History
Solid riffage, hopefully these guys can get back to their Énemy Of the World' level.
Best Track - So You're Saying There's A Chance |
14 | | Manchester Orchestra Hope
'Hope' is better than 'Cope'.
Best Track - Every Stone |
13 | | Hundredth Resist
Better than your average metal/hardcore.
Best Track - Resist |
12 | | Interpol El Pintor
I really enjoyed the guitar work in this.
Best Track - Same Town, New Story |
11 | | Mallory Knox Asymmetry
These guys really know how to write a catchy chorus without making it seem like a guilty pleasure.
Best Track - Dying To Survive |
10 | | The Menzingers Rented World
Just falls short of 'On The Impossible Past' But nonetheless a very enjoyable listen.
Best Track - Rodent |
9 | | Foo Fighters Sonic Highways
Feel like this album was very underrated. The Foo's last two albums are up there with their best. Also the TV series was fantastic.
Best Track - I Am A River |
8 | | Aaron West and The Roaring Twenties We Don't Have Each Other
The Wonder Years/Soupy just keep churning out excellent music.
Best Track - The Thunderbird Inn |
7 | | Trophy Scars Holy Vacants
If Jerry Jones voice was more accessible this band would be big time.
Best Track - Everything Disappearing |
6 | | Trophy Eyes Mend, Move On
Very consistent for a first LP. Objectively this would probably be lower in this list but they are from my hometown so they get bumped up.
Best Track - Convalescence |
5 | | Royal Blood Royal Blood
Royal Blood are all about that action bossss.
Best Track - Out Of The Black |
4 | | The Hotelier Home, Like NoPlace Is There
A close second behind 'The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me' for the most emotionally captivating album I have listened to.
Best Track - Among The Wildflowers |
3 | | Gates Bloom and Breathe
I enjoyed 'Ýou Are All You Have Left To Fear' but I felt like it was missing any truly great moments. 'Bloom and Breathe' brings teh climaxes
Best Track - The Thing That Would Save You |
2 | | The War on Drugs Lost in the Dream
First heard 'Red Eyes' when I was in the drive through at KFC now whenever I hear it I think of Chicken...
Best Track - An Ocean In Between The Waves |
1 | | The Smith Street Band Throw Me in the River
I was lucky enough to meet Wil after a show back in 2013. Dude is Legend, Band is Legend, Album is Legend.
Best Track - The Arrogance Of The Drunk Pedestrian |
